Cyber Monday 2019: The Best Deals on iPads

Best ipad deals

Cyber Monday has grown to rival Black Friday in terms of deals—particularly when it comes to tech. Those who refuse to drag themselves out of bed at 4 a.m. on Friday to hunt down “doorbuster” products are being rewarded with deals they can track from the comfort of their computer. But there was always one issue for Cyber Monday fans: Apple traditionally launched it deals for Black Friday—not Monday.

At least, that’s how it used to be.

Apple’s iPad line is beyond fractured at this point. There’s the iPad, iPad Pro (in multiple sizes), the iPad Mini, the iPad Air, the previous generation iPad—all of which are still completely viable in the eyes of iPadOS 13.

When there are this many generations of devices floating around the market, that means that there’s a lot of stock. Even better news: the best bargains this Cyber Monday seem to be focused on the most recent iPad models.

The iPad is Apple’s latest entry-level tablet. It’s cheaper than the iPad Air and, depending on which model you get, at least $1,000 less than an iPad Pro—and that is its greatest advantage over the other iPads. Yes, it has a larger 10.2″ display and it can use a Smart Keyboard, but other than those two things, this new iPad is just an upsized 6th Gen iPad. It’s just bigger. If you missed Black Friday’s deals, no worries, Amazon has an $80-off deal running all day Cyber Monday

iPad Air

The iPad Air is a very attractive mid-range tablet for those who have explored what a tablet can do and want to do more. It boasts an A12 chip (almost as good as the Pro’s A12X) and a large 10.5″ screen. It supports Apple’s Smart Keyboard (but not the Folio) and the 1st-Gen Apple Pencil. Its retina display is almost the same as the iPad, but with an anti-reflective coating and TrueTone capabilities. The 8mp camera can capture crystal clear images and HD video. Since it keeps Touch ID, it doesn’t need the enhanced front-facing camera of the Pro, so no Portrait Mode here. But, really, when you look at the specs, the iPad Air is almost like an iPad Pro Light—it can do just about everything the Pro can do, but for hundreds of dollars less. And now it’s been discounted by 5%, at $614.

iPad Pro with Cellular

The iPad Pro was recently refreshed with a larger screen. Those 11 inches are the sweet spot for most users, but if you need a truly gargantuan iPad, there’s also a 12.9-inch model. Since it has the edge-to-edge screen design, there’s no Touch ID, instead using the Face ID. You can also get up to 1TB on the Pro. The iPad Pro supports my favorite mobile keyboard, the Smart Keyboard Folio. If you want to use the superior Gen 2 Apple Pencil, you’ll have to stick with the Pro, since other iPads aren’t able to charge it. The camera is the best you can get from an iPad. It can shoot 4K video and capture 12mp images. The front-facing camera supports Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting as well. The audio is better, with four speakers to the other models’ two. Usually the price is the iPad Pro’s weakness, but this holiday season, you can get some rare discounts. Amazon is offering 11-14% off all iPad Pros with cellular, dropping the price by $100 or more.
